The short version

The job. Cover a 24-hour DJ set end to end and hand the brand usable content during the event and after it. The client. Extreme, at DBN Gogo's 24-hour set at Truth Nightclub, Midrand.

What we did. Put a seven-person crew and an edit station on site, shot photo and video together, cut and brand-locked on the floor, and passed finished assets to Second Rodeo — Extreme's social agency — who did the posting and community management. We also produced the motion visuals playing on the room's screens.

What came out. Batches of 10–30 finished images every 20–60 minutes and a 15–25 second ad-ready reel every 2–2.5 hours, each asset delivered in 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9, plus a press film cut ahead of launch and an after-movie that closed the campaign.

How the room was run

Most event coverage arrives days later as a gallery. This was built the other way round: an on-site crew and an edit station — a War Room — producing content to paid-media spec as the night went, so it could go into a feed or behind spend without a re-cut.

The division of responsibility mattered as much as the kit. Outerbounds produced; Second Rodeo published. None of that boundary was improvised on the night — the approval chain was agreed and briefed to the crew before doors opened.

01

The crew

Seven people on site: a client lead, a creative producer, a video editor, a photo editor, a photographer, a cinematographer and videographer, and a stylist. One integrated team, so photo and video moved together.

02

The cut

An edit station in the room. Images out in batches of 10–30 every 20–60 minutes with no duplicates; 15–25 second reels out every 2–2.5 hours. Brand in the first two seconds, responsible-drinking (ARA) token and the Extreme × DBN Gogo XXIV lock-up applied before anything left the station. Roughly 90 minutes to two hours to set up and start shooting, then continuous flow.

03

The hand-off

Finished, brand-locked assets went into a live WhatsApp bank and straight to Second Rodeo, Extreme's social agency. They posted and ran community management; we did not. Outerbounds can run community management on other projects — on this one it sat with the social agency, and the line was explicit.

04

The long-form edit

The after-movie, the recap film that closed the campaign, was handed to Second Rodeo for the long-form edit. The War Room ran on site; the campaign-closing film was finished off it.

Delivery format was decided once and applied to everything. Shot vertical-first for the phone, every frame out in 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9, so one moment covered a story, a feed post and a paid placement without anyone re-cropping later.

Selected evidence

Three films came out of this campaign, each doing a different job. Press play to watch.

Deliverable. The press film, built ahead of launch to open the campaign and delivered in all four formats.

Deliverable. One of the 15–25 second ad-ready reels, cut at the edit station during the set and handed over brand-locked.

Deliverable. The after-movie that closed the campaign — the long-form edit, handed to Second Rodeo.

What to ask before you commission live content

These are the questions this job answers. Put them to anyone quoting you for the same thing.

How fast can you deliver content from a live event?

After a 90-minute-to-2-hour prep-and-shoot ramp, once we're in flow we deliver batches of 10–30 finished, no-duplicate images every 20–60 minutes, and dynamic ad-ready 15–25s reels every 2–2.5 hours — all in your delivery formats, handed to the social team to post in real time.

What formats do you deliver live content in?

Every frame is delivered in 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 and 16:9 — ready for feed, story and paid placement without a re-crop.

Do you post live too, or just shoot?

We can run community management, but our core is producing the content. On Extreme × DBN Gogo, live posting and community management were handled by Second Rodeo, Extreme's social agency — we fed them finished, brand-locked, ad-ready assets in real time.

Can you work inside strict brand and legal guidelines?

Yes. This work was produced to Meta creative best-practice, with responsible-drinking (ARA) compliance, brand lock-ups and a live approval chain applied before anything went out.

Do you cover both photo and video?

Yes — one integrated on-site team of photographers, videographers and editors, so photo and video move together.

What is a content "War Room"?

A dedicated on-site crew and edit station that turns live moments into finished, brand-locked, posted content within the hour.
